Where words fall short, the music speaks

In the meantime I have been living in Blixembosch for almost 10 years. For a long time I played saxophone in different fanfare orchestras, but I had stopped making music at my last move. After a few years I started to miss it and I was so happy when I saw a message in the Blixemflitsen from fanfare orchestra Wilhelmina Eindhoven that they are still looking for musicians.

They are the only fanfare orchestra in Eindhoven and rehearse nice and close to the Trefpunt on Belgiumplein. I immediately sent an email and a few weeks later my friend and I were able to attend a concert for free to get acquainted with the musicians and the level of playing (2nd division). From the week after I was admitted to the enthusiastic company where I was very welcome and immediately felt at home.

Because I like to actively commit myself to the associations I am a member of, I was soon a member of the Artistic Committee that organizes everything around the concerts and now (less than two years later) I am also on the board.

Traditionally it is a Christian music association, which can still be found in playing corals at the start of the rehearsal. These are beautiful pieces to play in and form the right tone. We also play every year at the Remembrance Day at the Oude Toren and we have been providing the Volkskerstzang in Eindhoven for more than 65 years.

After responding we start with the real work. This is really very varied from musicals such as The Phantom of the Opera and The Woman in White to symphonic works such as The Lord of the Rings (Johan de Meij) and from well -known songs such as Barcelona and The Beatles in Concert corals such as St. Florian Choral . We also guide singing (both classic and modern) or solo musicians. In other words: we are at home in all markets. The only thing we don’t do is march on the street.

If it also starts to itch with you to pick up that instrument that you put aside a while ago because you moved or had no time for a while, come and take a look at our weekly rehearsal on Tuesday evening from 19.45 hour in the Trefpunt. Everyone is very welcome.

Recently we also have a sister association Unisono. If you are a starting musician or do not make music at all but would like to start with this, you are very welcome with them. They also rehearse on Tuesday evening at ’t Trefpunt.

So if you like to listen to fanfarem music or are you just curious how this music can appeal to you (not everyone has grown up and makes unknown sometimes unloved without the reason for this), reserve this evening in your agenda.
