We grow older every year and we get new experiences and insights. What is the best way to portray this? With the stacking of wooden cubes, what a tower or pyramid yields, a beacon in force? Or solving and laying a big puzzle, the puzzle of life? Or maybe it growing a ring every year, the annual rings? The growing of rings appeals to me. We are living beings that grow. Maybe things are less business but you develop other skills. There is always room for new growth in a human life, sometimes more and sometimes less. Together we appreciate and support all the ways of personal growth. Every person is unique with his own potential with which he can improve or contribute to the world. Let us celebrate this every year on New Year’s Day: “Day of personal growth”.
Volunteers such as in our neighborhood are selfless for a good cause. Such as for this neighborhood magazine, for the annual neighborhood party in August, or for better contact with the many expats in the neighborhood. A working group exists for the latter.
Perhaps we can better call “the national day of the volunteer” on December 7 “the day of selfless growth”. Because the use of the selfless, the caring, the connecting, the supporting, the modest is also a form of growth, individually and jointly.
In this issue there is ample attention for chess in our neighborhood, first aid, nest boxes in the neighborhood, a senior walk, carnival, the senior dinner. Enjoy reading!
